DOGO Streaming
The official site for a live radio show in Argentina: it knows when the show is on air, syncs new streams on its own, and the owner edits everything herself.

The brief
DOGO Streaming is a live radio show from San Nicolás de los Arroyos, Argentina, broadcast on FM 99.9 and YouTube. It needed one site where listeners can see whether the show is on air right now, catch up on past streams, and find out how to rent the studio or sponsor a program.
The owner also had to be able to change photos and copy herself, without calling a developer.
Knowing when the show is live
My first version checked on the server. The channel's public /live page points its canonical link at the current broadcast, and the page markup says whether that video is live now or only scheduled. Anything marked as upcoming is rejected, so premieres and scheduled streams never show as live, and the answer is cached for 2 minutes.
It worked perfectly locally, then failed in production: YouTube often answers requests from Vercel's datacenter IPs with an anti-bot page, so the server could not see the stream.
The fix was a second check that runs in the visitor's browser: - Mount a hidden YouTube embed of the channel's live stream and listen to the player's messages. - Only count the show as live once the player actually starts playing, so a scheduled stream can never trigger it. - Give up after about 15 seconds and leave the page as it was.
A page that never comes up empty
Recent streams load through three layers, so the section always renders: - The YouTube Data API when a key is configured, which gives exact durations. - The channel's public RSS feed when it is not. - A small set of past streams as a last resort.
Shorts get their own carousel. Instead of guessing from video length, the site reads the Shorts-only playlist that YouTube generates for every channel. YouTube data is revalidated hourly, so visitors never trigger an API call.
Handing it over
Content lives in Sanity, with the Studio built into the site, so the owner updates photos, show pages and copy herself. The site also covers program schedules, a news feed, studio rental and sponsorship pages, and full SEO with structured data, a sitemap and robots rules.
